Below the Beacon

This up and down farmhouse is located in an oasis of southerly facing fields and only a stone’s throw from the town and the rugged beauty of the north coast.

With typical single storey additions associated to those seen in the 1960s and 1970s the character of the cottage was trying to poke its head out to be seen. BWA’s scheme proposals removed those additions and, albeit increased the accommodation by another 60%, they are supplied within a subservient and sympathetic form. Extended to the rear and rationalised at the front this home has been recreated to give the family many years of future flexibility and enjoyment.

A new formal entrance is incorporated with the landscaping on the main elevation and this allowed the main bulk of extension to be at the rear (this aspect frames the view to the Atlantic) and makes this a complete home.
