Studio

Ben White Architecture covers a diverse range of projects, predominantly in the private residential sector, but we also have experience across  most  building types from Housing and Community projects to Healthcare, Education and Commercial projects.

BWA ‘s small team can provide architectural services from developing the brief to assistance for completion on site. Our services can be tailored to suit a client’s needs, whether it be just for general advice or for a detailed designs.

As a guide, this is the general linear service that we provide:

0 & 1

Stage 0 – Briefing

At Stage 0,  we identify the client’s strategic brief and the core project requirements. This usually includes a site meeting with the client to discuss the project, aspirations and scope of the project to then inform a detailed fee quote. This fee quote also details other consultants and costs that may be involved with a planning application.

Stage 1 – Feasibility

Stage 1 then evolves the development of project objectives and goals. This includes feasibility studies and reviews of the site in the form of hand sketches, 3D modelling and CAD drawings dependent on the size/ scope of the project to start progressing the design.

2 & 3

Stage 2 – Concept

With Stage 2, a concept of the project has started developing after the feasibility studies. This stage starts to finalise the brief and follow onto the developed design in Stage 3. This includes further sketches, 3D models and CAD drawings to develop ideas and start refining the scheme.

Stage 3 – Planning

At Stage 3 we then have a fully developed design based on the briefing throughout stages 0-2. The project, in its fully developed state, is then prepared for a planning application, whether that’s a full planning app, householders application etc. Throughout planning, we liase with the Local Planning Authority to ensure that applications progress smoothly.

Stage 4 – Technical

Once planning is received, Stage 4 is where we prepare the technical design for the proposals. This includes technical drawings of plans, elevations, sections and specifications. We work this on a tiered system, dependent on how much detail is required from the client. Throughout Stage 4 we coordinate with Building Control and other consultants to ensure that all building works are meeting all requirements.

Stage 5 – Construction

During Stage 5 construction starts. We don’t tend to administer contracts for building works, but we are always on hand to answer any queries that arise from site. We love to pop by when passing to see how things are progressing.

6 & 7

Stage 6 – Handover

Once construction is completed we move into Stage 6 where the Handover takes place. At this stage we can answer any queries for the conclusion of the project, and ensure that any pre-occupancy planning conditions are adhered to.

Stage 7 – In Use

At Stage 7 there is now a complete project and no more works are required.
