A 1980’s dwelling with a design apparently based on a ‘barn’ – no one would have thought! The house has a delightful garden but had minimal accessibility to it. The client’s brief was to be in the garden but at the same time having the comfort of being in the house to allow for all year round living.
These additions reinforce the entrance and focus the social spaces on the south facing garden aspect with a 270 degree visual accessibility to the garden.
The extensions were designed as simple additions with minimal features so as to not jar with the original form but more to sit with it as if it could have always been there.
