MODERN  MOUSE

This  post  war  ‘square’  house  located  in  a  wonderfully  elevated  position  overlooking  the  ocean  has  remained  almost  unchanged  since  it  was  constructed.  Sitting  between  a  variance  of  1970s – 1980s   era  properties  the  client’s  brief was  to  lift  this  property  to  create  a  contemporary  renovation  and  extension  to  suit  modern  family  living  to  afford  the  opportunities  for  the  commanding  views  to  be  enjoyed  from  inside.

The  main  body  of  the  house  is  to  be  retained  but  upgrades  and  alterations  afford  the  accommodation  to  extend  upwards  and  outwards  with  sensitive  expanses  of  glass  included  so  the  clients  can  benefit  from  the  panoramic  views  towards  St. Michaels Mount  and  Mousehole.

These  proposals,  albeit  modern  are  sympathetic  in  scale  and  finish  to  the  area  and  hence  provide  a  subtle  architectural  intervention.
